Pockit is proud to support Railway Children
Railway Children is a charity dedicated to the protection of children living on the streets in the UK, India and East Africa. Our aim is to help Railway Children by providing much-needed funding.
Danny Jatania, CEO and Chairman of Pockit said:
“We are very pleased to partner with Railway Children in their passionate work to help and support children who land up on the streets. We strongly believe Railway Children has the right team and best intentions to support more children in the UK, India and East Africa."
The funds raised will help to develop safety nets for children who are living on the streets, or who are at risk of doing so. With your help, we can help get to street children before the streets get to them.
How will Pockit help?
In support of this fantastic cause we aim to raise over £1.5 million over the next 3 years by donating 5%percent of our pre-tax profits to Railway Children. We hope that this commitment will provide the crucial income needed to sustain and develop programmes across Kenya, Tanzania and here in the UK.
Terina Keene Railway Children Chief Executive said:
‘we are incredibly proud that the team at Pockit have selected Railway Children as one of their charity partners. Working with such an exciting business that will provide household savings across the UK will be absolutely invaluable and provide vital support for children who don’t have the safe and secure homes we so often take for granted.’
More about the charity
Most people think street children only exist in underdeveloped countries but every year in the UK over 100,000 children under 16 run away from home. 30% of these children are 12 or younger and 1 in 6 will sleep rough.
Railway Children exists to help vulnerable children who have become detached from their families and are at risk on the streets where they suffer abuse and exploitation. These children run away or are forced to leave homes where violence, substance abuse and parental neglect have become part of their daily lives. Many of them are never even reported missing.
Unwanted, unloved or even abused, they find themselves living on our streets simply because there’s nowhere else to go and no one left to turn to. For these children, the streets are often the only means of support available but also where they suffer abuse and exploitation. The problems they face on the street are often even worse than those they endured at home.
Since their inception in 1995, Railway Children has helped many thousands of children and young people by working with over 26 partner organisations on 117 projects across the UK, India and Africa. Last year they helped 27,756 street children around the world.
Railway Children strive for a world of protection and opportunity for these invisible children that many people don’t know exist. To find out how Railway Children help in more detail, please go to
